Vancouver Police Department, West Vancouver Police Department, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are associate with one entity, the Police Service Division. All interal processes, investigations, career development, etc is handled under the Police Service Division. Constables can choose which department they wish to play as at any given time.

Police Service Division Rank Structure

Below is the rank structure for the Polcie Service Division. It is in order from highest (most authority) to lowest (Least authority)

Police Board

The Police Board is a combination of Server Executives and Law Enforcement Management Members.

The Police Board are responsible for the following.\
  • Department Oversight\
  • Major Department Changes (Issueing New Vehicles, New Uniforms, etc)
  • Task allocation between Civilian Employees and Road Supervisors
While on patrol, Police Board members act as Road Supervisors. They hold the same powers as a Road Supervisors while on patrol. They have no right to issue disiplinary actions.

Internal Affairs

Interal Affairs is comprised of only Civilian Employees. These Civilian Employees are responsible for conduction extensive investigations into Members and have the right to issue disiplinary actions where needed.
Internal Affairs members are Civilian Employees and hold no power as a peace officer. They can not patrol and are refrained from joining the Police Service Division as a Constable while there position in Internal Affairs is still active.

Career Development

Career Development members are comprised of experience Road Supervisors. Career Development members are responsible for assuring members meet activity quotas and have the right to promote members when needed.

Career Development Members also have the right to issue infractions to inactive members and if needed, demote members.
Career Development members have the right to patrol in a Road Supervisor Capacity. They can only issue demotions and infractions for issues steming from inactivity. All other disiplinary actions are handled by Career Development Members.

Road Supervisors

Road Supervisors are experience Constables selected by Career Development members on a random basis. Road Supervisors are resonsible for educating and assiting Constables while on patrol.

Road Supervisors hold no right to issue disiplinary actions, they are there to educate and assist and nothing more.

Constables

Constables are standard patrol members. They are responsible for patroling their jurisdiction, responding to emergency calls, mutual aid with other agencies, and maintaining public safety.
